CosmoMorph: Deep Sky Survey
Inspect real Hubble, JWST, and ESO deep-space plates. Apply astronomical plate filters to expose hidden bars, tidal tails, and dust lanes, then classify each celestial object.
Observatory Classification Protocol
- Observatory Plate Filters: Switch between 🔭 True Color, 🌑 Negative Plate (inverted luminance used by astronomers to trace faint outer tidal tails and spiral arms), ✨ High Contrast (to isolate central stellar bars and nuclear bulges), and 🎯 Astrometry Grid.
- Step 1 — Primary Morphology (+100 pts + Streak): Classify the object into one of the 6 fundamental classes below (+25 pts per consecutive correct primary classification).
- Step 2 — Diagnostic Structure & Physics Bonus (+75 pts): Identify the specific astrophysical mechanism or structural feature revealed by the plate.
Catalog contains 30 real NASA / ESA Hubble, JWST, and ESO deep-sky objects with offline procedural plate backup.
