Exploring Earth’s Crust: New LithoClade Geology Game, Rock & Mineral Field Guide, and Expanded Science Art

Learn to identify 124 rocks and minerals across 27 geological groups, explore new Earth science wiki articles, and browse new framed prints, postcards, and greeting cards

This month, CRV Science expands across Earth science, mineralogy, and natural history illustration with new interactive tools on LowKey Games, CRV Science Learn, the Science Wiki, News & Dispatches, and the CRV Science Shop.

1. LowKey Games — LithoClade: Rocks & Minerals: You can now play LithoClade: Rocks & Minerals on LowKey Games. Built around petrogenetic rock classification and the Dana/Strunz mineralogical system, LithoClade challenges players to classify 124 rock and mineral specimens across Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic rocks as well as the 8 major chemical mineral classes—from felsic plutons and volcanic glasses to carbonate reefs, high-grade schists, and native elements. We also refined Lexicon: Scientific Vocabulary with clearer physical science definitions and updated question sets.

2. Learn & Science Wiki — Geology Identification Guide: Alongside the game, our new Geology: Rock & Mineral ID Guide & Field Compendium offers an interactive field reference covering igneous cooling rate and silica chemistry, the Wentworth clastic grain-size scale, metamorphic pressure–temperature facies, and the Mohs 1–10 scratch hardness scale. Every specimen in the guide connects directly to a dedicated entry in the CRV Science Wiki, where you can explore its chemical formula, crystal habit, diagnostic field traits, and geological formation environment.

3. News & Dispatches — Spaceflight, Climate & Biodiversity Coverage: Our News & Dispatches archive continues to publish daily syntheses across planetary science, climate systems, and evolutionary biology, including our recent report on NASA’s Revised 2027 Artemis III Low-Earth Orbit Docking Architecture.

4. CRV Science Shop — Framed Prints, Postcards & Greeting Cards: The CRV Science Shop now features an expanded collection of original scientific artwork across T-Shirts, Other Clothing, Art Prints (including 12″×18″ Framed Luster Photo Prints and stretched canvas prints), a dedicated Postcards & Greeting Cards collection celebrating biological and astronomical illustration, Accessories, and Books.
